El grupo está formado por investigadores de NavarraBiomed y la Universidad de Navarra, y especialistas del HUN. Sus IRs son Natalia López Andrés y Guillermo Zalba Goñi). La línea prioritaria del grupo es el estudio de las enfermedades de las válvulas cardiacas, y más concretamente de las que afectan a la válvula aórtica y a la válvula mitral. El trabajo del grupo es un claro ejemplo de investigación biomédica traslacional ya que combina la investigación básica pre-clínica, mediante el establecimiento de modelos in vitro e in vivo, con la investigación clínica y su aplicación terapéutica real. Las diversas colaboraciones para el desarrollo de nuevos fármacos y protocolos de intervención terapéutica y manejo del paciente son muestra de ello.
